Intuition is an extrasensory perception of something that you should or shouldn’t do without any substantial proof, often accompanied by a noticeable physical response.
Simply stated, intuition is direct knowledge. We’re all born with intuition as well as intelligence. Your intelligence represents your ability to correctly answer questions using your analytical skills. In contrast, your intuition reflects your ability to go inward, using a variety of intuitive skills to perceive connections, communicate non-traditionally, and tap into personal and collective wisdom.
Following your intuition can help you with everything from finding something that you’ve misplaced to accepting the guidance to live in the flow.
Perhaps you’ve have had a bad feeling about something but pushed ahead anyway? Think about how that turned out.
Four flavors of intuition
Clairvoyance. A clairvoyant sees things not apparent to others, such as a vision of events or a visual impression about a person. This ability is often combined with others and is the most common.
Here are some of the ways that we receive clairvoyant messages.
1. We might dream about something that sends our life into a new, positive direction.
2. We might receive a picture that flashes into the mind’s eye. I had that before I broke my leg. I flashed on a picture of myself in the hospital. In fact, I had that picture twice along with several other warnings.
3. Rather than just seeing a picture, we might experience a mental movie.
4. A message might appear as a symbol.
With Clairsentience the information comes by feeling an impression, whether physically or emotionally. People with this ability are called empaths because they can feel the emotions of others. Many empaths avoid physical contact with others because they can feel others’ physical pain. Here are just a few of the ways it may show up.
• Butterflies in the stomach as a signal of impending happy news; and sudden nausea as a sign of trouble.
• A hunch or gut feeling to do something or avoid something.
• The feeling that a certain person is thinking about you, followed by a phone call.
• A feeling of joy that tells you that you’re moving in the right direction.
• Feelings of peace that let you know everything is going to be okay.
• Picking up on another’s feelings as if they were your own emotions or physical sensations.
It’s important to use protection if you are in empath. It can be as simple as surrounding yourself with white or gold light.
Clairaudience. is the ability to hear things that are outside your normal hearing range. One might hear people who have passed on or a spirit guide. A famous Clairaudient is John Edward.
Clairaudience can range from a physical voice that seems to come from outside yourself to a voice that you hear inside your head or heart.
• You might hear a song on the radio that seems to convey a message.
• You might hear a little inner voice
• You might hear a loud, external voice giving you guidance
Doreen Virtue says that if we ignore divine guidance long enough the message may come as a shout in our ear. I’ve had that experience. I was working with a client, giving him ego strengthening suggestions at the end of his session when a voice told me to tell him that he deserved it. I told the voice that I would but not right this minute. After all, I’m on a roll here. Well, I forgot. At the end of his session, my client said that at the end he wanted me to tell him that he deserved it but I never did. So he said it to himself. I apologized to Spirit and promised to repeat what I heard the next time.
Not long after I had another client who wanted to meet her higher self. I was explaining to her they ways in which her higher self might appear when the voice told me to tell her that it might be an animal. Since I wasn’t sure how this information would be received, I objected. And the voice said, “Say it! Say it! Say it! Say it!” And it said it. Of course, her higher self showed up as a wolf and a dog. Perfect guidance, as always. Perhaps you’ve had a similar experience.
Claircognizance is a form of extrasensory perception where a person acquires knowledge primarily by acquired knowledge – knowing something without a physical explanation of why you know it. It’s one of the least talked about of the psychic senses, yet one of the most common.
We receive information as ideas, concepts and thoughts. We don’t hear, see or feel, it just suddenly appears in the mind. Information is instantly accessible to us in the same way that data is accessible after being loaded into a computer.
For example, years ago when I had an outside job, as I passed a co-worker in the hall I had a flash of knowing that she was pregnant. She announced it several weeks later.
Here are few ways that Claircognizance may show up.
• Revelations. Suddenly knowing that you are connected to everything and everyone.
• Aptitudes. Knowing how to repair something without a manual or prior experience.
• Facts. You answer a question about a topic that you’re only vaguely familiar with. You find the facts stored in your mind even though you have no memory of learning, hearing or reading about this.
• Insights. Your sudden insight simplifies a complex situation and you recognize the core issue.
However your intuition is currently working in your life you can expand your abilities easily with some simple exercises. I will be teaching Intuition and Spirituality in Sacramento, California in November. I also offer a home study course on intuition.
